Simulator Helps With Ag Equipment Training
Using advanced simulation, Tenstar is tackling the hurdles of traditional training: high operational costs, safety risks, limited access to real-world machinery, and difficulty recreating specific scenarios.
“Simulation was seen as a way to create a safe, efficient, structured and repeatable training environment for agricultural students, offering training environments that mirror real-world challenges,” says Gregory Lindsay, Business Development Manager for the Americas.
Tenstar’s agricultural simulators replicate real-world machine operation, both in hardware controls and in virtual environments. Its programs guide users through tasks such as machine handling, fieldwork and implement attachment, while adapting to various terrains and conditions. Exercises, such as coordinating tractors and harvesters, also reflect the realities of modern farming.
A key strength of the Tenstar system is its structured approach.
“Realistic controls, combined with step-by-step virtual exercises, allow students to practice safely, build muscle memory, and gain confidence before they ever step into a real cab,” Lindsay explains. “For educational institutions, this means more people can be trained efficiently, regardless of weather, machine availability or scheduling limitations.”
Progress is tracked and evaluated, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency and safety-related behavior. Instructors monitor development and adapt future training to individual needs, ensuring a streamlined learning process. The system is flexible, with programs customizable to educational requirements, machine types or specific client needs, making it suitable for schools and professional centers.
“The goal isn’t to replace hands-on training but to better prepare trainees for it,” Lindsay says. “By understanding machine behavior, building basic routines, and learning from mistakes in a risk-free setting, students enter the real agricultural field with increased confidence and safety awareness.”
Pricing for Tenstar simulators typically ranges from $17,500 to $46,800, depending on configuration and setup.
