What makes the cart work so well is the way he mounted a 2-ft. long piece of 4-in. dia. pvc pipe - cut in half - on top of the cart. He lays pigs on their backs in the pipe to work on them.
"It eliminates the need for a second person to hold baby pigs and allows one person to do castration and vaccination chores, etc.," says Malsom, who has a farrow-to-finish operation.
Malsom paid $10 for the cart which he bought from a local supermarket. He cut the pipe in half lengthwise and placed it open side up on top of the cart, then wired each end down. He lays a piece of ply-wood in the bottom of the cart.
